Nowadays, universities are earnestly focusing on providing internship training to the
undergraduates in order to apply their academic knowledge practically and in gaining
the work experience prior to graduation. Despite the growing popularity of internships,
surprisingly little research has reported the systematic evaluation of internship
programme. Hence, in order to fill this gap this study is carried out with three objectives: first, to explore the employer perception towards interns of Faculty of Commerce and Management, second, to explore the interns perceptions towards employer, and third, to explore the contribution of internship programme in achieving graduate profile of Faculty of Commerce and Management, Eastern University, Sri Lanka. In order to achieve the study objectives, data were collected from 157 final year students in the Faculty of Commerce and Management in the academic year of 2010/2011(2016). In this study, data were collected through internship record book which were given to students at the beginning of the internship. The univariate analysis was used to achieve the study objectives. The results of the study revealed that employers were highly satisfied with intern’s performance during the internship. The results also implied that interns were highly satisfied with the employer who provided the internships to them. In addition, finding of the study suggested that internship highly supports to materialize the graduate profile. Moreover, this study provides some recommendations to further improve the quality of internship. This study is useful to the university, internship organization as well as future interns to improve the quality of internship.

Management (FCM) in Eastern University, Sri Lanka (EUSL) regarding sports
participation, general perception towards sports participation, and contribution of sports to achieve graduate profile, application of Ability, Motivation, and Opportunity (AMO) theory in sports context and the reasons for poor sports participation. These perceptions establish empirical as well as theoretical knowledge gaps in this study area. In order to fill these gaps, this study is designed with appropriate objectives. The objectives of this study were to explore the sports participation trends of FCM students, general perception towards sports participation and the perceived contribution of sports participation to achieve the graduate profile of FCM. Further, it was intended to test the application of AMO theory in sports context and to explore the reasons for poor sports participation. In order to achieve the objectives, primary and secondary data were collected. Primary data were collected through questionnaires and interview while the secondary data were collected from past records of the EUSL. The environment change is the most complicated issue that world is facing today. These
changes particularly from financial sectors, mainly create negative impact on the
environment. This situation compelled the banks to involve themselves in responsible
activities and improve their environmental performance. Nowadays, it is observed that
HRM (human resource management) functions can be transformed and integrated in
digital forms within banks known as e-HRM. Thus, in rapidly changing environment,
banks are trying to adopt e-HRM (electronic human resource management) applications
to enhance the bank’s environmental performance. Hence, the objective of this study is to
find out the impact of e-HRM on bank’s environmental performance of selected Commercial banks in Batticaloa Region of Sri Lanka. This study was conducted
theoretically and empirically in Sri Lankan banks. In order to achieve the objective,
primary data were collected from 155 employees of selected bank branches and the
structured questionnaire was administered to collect the data. The data were analyzed by
using univariate, bivariate and multivariate analyses. The finding of the study revealed
that e-HRM practices have positive and significant impact on bank’s environmental
performance in overall. And it was also seen that communication which is one of the eHRM practices was found to have positive and significant impact on bank’s
environmental performance however, recruitment and selection, employee data and pay
management, performance management, training and development, knowledge
management and operational and other HRM activities were not a significant predictor
of bank’s environmental performance. The current study will be vital in understanding
the empirical knowledge regarding the impact of e-HRM practices on bank’s
environmental performance.

Poverty reduction is the key objective of most of the countries' development plan.
Development planners work in many areas to meet this key objective. Poverty profile is a
descriptive tool to analyse the general characteristics of people who are considered to be
poor, and compare the incidence of poverty across time and population groups, will help the policy makers by giving a background of poverty. This paper presents the poverty profile of Sri Lanka in 2009/10 and 2012/13. It assesses the magnitude of poverty in Sri Lanka by using Household Income and Expenditure survey of 2009/10 and 2012/13. The study used six popular indices, which have different interpretations, to estimate poverty level of an individual. The study found that the factors relate with individual's capabilities such education and employment are the most significant factors relate to poverty. Increasing expenditure on education and creating opportunities for employment are suggesting the importance of generating income sources as policy strategies.
