Ideology plays a major role in executing any inherent intentions which is to be
implemented. It is common in social politics and governance. Racism and religious
sects have been unavoidable roots in establishing the identity in Sri Lanka political
history. The terms Sinhala and Tamil have been two major ideologies which
constructed the identity politics in Sri Lanka. There have been numerous researches
have been carried out based on language, economy, migration, university entrance
and the so forth. This research intends to analyze the political phenomenon based
on ideology. As this is a descriptive research qualitative research design was
employed. Data were collected from selective secondary sources and peripheral
readings focusing on the specific topic. Based on the data, the intensified concepts
were analyzed qualitatively engulfing the political experiences. The research has
concluded discovering the real factors behind the identity politics in Sri Lanka
throughout the years.

In this contemporary period, due to the influence of science, information technology
development and globalization, it has been estimated that education that can provide
employment and economic benefits is valuable. The commercialized, profit-seeking
activities of those who receive this education have a negative impact on human values,
which can be harmful to humanity in the long run. A lack of personal and social morals
and the creation of a culture of violence are prominent among these. Moral education can
make a positive contribution in correcting violent attitudes and guiding good life. In such
a situation, it is considered necessary to provide high quality and practical moral education
to the students. Philosophy has the potential to provide common values for all to live in
pluralistic societies. Various schools of thought in the history of philosophy can be
attributed to this. Thoughts on human well-being are a distinctive feature of ancient
philosophy. Among these is Stoicism, which dates back to the Hellenistic period, as a
theoretical movement that offers guidelines for individual and social well-being. In the
contemporary situation, the question of whether it is possible to create a universal society
through ethical norms that transcend religious boundaries is also the basic problem for
conducting this study. In this context, this study aims to investigate and reveal the
possibilities of applying Stoicism to bring about a holistic change in the thinking, feeling
and behavior of the student community and develop morally. The study has been carried
out qualitatively by analyzing selected philosophical texts as secondary sources. In a
society where efforts are being made to educate the youth to be virtuous, the findings of
this study will be useful for parents and educators.

The problem of evil is one of the significant problems being discussed in the realm of
philosophy of religion and this problem has importance in ethics as well. Recent studies
revealed that issues related to evil are still unanswerable to date and this condition was
created by Christianity and Zoroastrianism. The problem of evil in the Eastern
Philosophical traditions was not much influential as in the Western philosophical and
religious systems due to the former ones have assimilated the existence of God and evil as
non-contradictory elements into their systems. Even though the Islamic religion shares
many characteristics with Christianity as Semitic tradition. The problem of evil was not
seriously conceived in the Islamic religion even though Islam upholds monotheism. In this
background, this study compares and analyses the problem of evil in the two religions
(Hinduism and Islam) which originated in different social and cultural contexts. For
Hinduism, this study limits its scope to Saiva Siddhanta, the prominent philosophical
development of Hinduism, and the problem of Evil narrated in the Holy Quran of
Islam. For Saiva Siddhanta, Three malas (three impurities) are conceived as evils and
Aanava(ego, I-ness) makes primarily the souls impure. As per Saiva Siddhanta, three
Malas ( aanava, kanma and maya) cause for birth and death of souls. Kanma Malam is
the basis for the consequences of Birth and maya mala causes for actions of souls by giving
the body, organs, the world, and enjoyment. Kanma determines the actions of souls and
Saiva Siddhanta conceives that evil is caused by former and present births. It is
noteworthy that there are many similar ideas between the two religions on the concept of
evil.

Monitoring shoreline is importantt for planning and development in the coastal region.
This research aims to detect and analyze the rate of shoreline changes in the Salli Grama
Niladhari (GN) division between 1991 and 2021. In this study, the shoreline change rate
along the coastline was analyzed using multi-temporal Landsat imagery and the Digital
Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS). The analysis revealed a significant rate of both
accretion and erosion along the coast of the study area. Remotely acquired, multi-temporal
Landsat images with 30 m resolution were collected at 10-year intervals from 1991 to 2021.
To perform the quantitative analysis of shoreline delineation, geometric and radiometric
corrections were applied to all Landsat images. Shorelines were then automatically
extracted in ArcGIS 10.8 using the Tasseled Cap (Landsat toolbox), and the rate of
shoreline change was analyzed using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System extension. End
Point Rates and Linear Regression Rates were used to calculate the net rate of shoreline
change over 30 years from 1991-2021. The rates of shoreline change and net movement
along transects were determined. Two hundred twenty-one transects at 20m intervals were
cast for the entire coast of the study area, the bulk of which revealed coastline erosion
(78.6%). The analysis showed that some parts of the research area experience remarkable
shoreline changes (averagely 0.237m/yr accretion and -0.676 m/yr erosion base on Linear
Regression Rates and 0.28 m/yr accretion and -0.671 m/yr erosion based on End Point
Rates) between 1991 and 2021. The combined effects of the different natural and human
activities on the coast of the study area have caused this shoreline change. An "erosion"
type coast can be seen in the study area and coastal protection is therefore considered
important for this area as well.
