In green banking, customer awareness is becoming important concept to banks in recent
years. The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the customer awareness
on green banking in the context of People's bank branches in Monaragala District. In
this study, customer awareness is measured through dimensions of green banking
practice, benefits of green banking, environment protection, easiness of use, monitoring
green banking.
The structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data from the 220 customers
of the People's bank in Monaragala district by using quota sampling method. The
collected data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, one way ANOVA analysis and independent sample test.
The findings of the study revealed that, there are low levels of awareness regarding
green banking practice, benefits of green banking, environment protection, easiness of
use, monitoring green banking. The results also showed that, there is high positive
relationships among environment protection, easiness of use, monitoring green banking
and green banking practice. In addition, there is a statistically significant differences
between age groups and income level of the People's bank customers on green banking
awareness. At the same time there is no significant differences regarding the gender
and nature of employment of People's bank customers on green banking awareness |
