Abstract:
Household play a major role in the society. Solid waste is main problem for household
to manage their wastages because they don't have proper knowledge about the 3Rs
strategies of solid waste management. It is not possible to achieve a sustainable
environment without 3Rs schemes. Hence, the researcher has become increasingly
interested in identifying the conditions that influence intention to 3Rs. In addition to
this, the researcher identify the level of these variables, impact between these
variables and the relationship between them.
So far lack of research has been carried out in Sri Lanka to investigate the intention
to 3Rs strategies to manage the household solid waste. In doing the research, a survey
is administered to 141 household who are living in Koralai Pattu West Pradeshiya
Sabha area in Oddamavadi.
Collected data was been analyzed by using univariate analysis, descriptive. analysis
and simple regression analysis. According to the descriptive analysis results, mean
values of study variables such as household attitude, subjective nouns and perceived
Behavioural control are high level in solid waste management of Koralai Pattu West
Pradeshiya Sabha area in Oddamavadi. Researcher hypothesized and found that
attitude, subjective norms and perceived Behavioral control have significant
positive relationship with intention to 3Rs. The study also revealed that attitude,
subjective norms perceived Behavioral control are positively impact on intention to
3Rs toward solid waste management. Further, the findings of this study offer
guidance to the household to involve the 3Rs schemes
