This study examined the main research problem, to what extent the Job stress mediate
the relationship between the Fear of missing out (FOMO) and Individual job
performance of Systematic important banks (SIB) in Batticaloa. Hence, this research
was carried out with the ultimate research objective, to determine whether Job stress
mediate the relationship between FOMO and Individual job performance of SIBs in
Batticaloa. Furthermore, conceptual model has been developed to link the study
variables and dimensions. Thus, four hypotheses were formed to test the impact level
of FOMO, Individual job performance and Job stress of banking employees in the study
area.
Quantitative methodology has been applied for this research study and questionnaires
were used to collect data from the employees of SIBs in Batticaloa. 200 questionnaires
were distributed to the banking employees by using Stratified proportionate simple
random sampling method. Further Descriptive, Correlation and Regressions analysis
have been performed for the analysis purpose. Findings have shown that FOMO and
Individual Job performance are in high level while Job stress in moderate level among
the respondents. Furtherrnore, it was also found that there is a negative relationship
between the FOMO and individual job performance, the positive relationship between
the FOMO and Job stress and the negative relationship between Individual job
performance and Job stress.
Major finding of this study was Job stress partially mediate the relationship between
FOMO and Individual job performance of SIBs employees in Batticaloa. These findings
would be useful to employees to concern FOMO and job stress in order to develop their
