Abstract:
Employees are the primary driving force behind industry innovation. Employee
creative behaviour, which can be described as the act of producing, encouraging, and
applying innovative thinking in the organization for the aim of personal and
organizational success is therefore critical. The objectives of this study to identify to
examine the level of leader humor behaviour, work engagement and employee
innovative behaviour, to examine the relationship between leader humor behaviour
and employee innovative behaviour, leader humor behaviour and work engagement
and work engagement and employee innovative behaviour and to examine the
mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between leader humor
behaviour and employee innovative behaviour.
Mainly the researcher has used descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, regression
analysis and mediation analysis to achieve the objectives of this research study. This
research study has been conducted using 317 employees in selected apparel
companies in Anuradhapura district. Results indicate that leader humor behaviour,
work engagement and employee innovative behaviour have high level. And also
according to correlation analysis there were strong positive relationships among
leader humor and work engagement, among leader humor and innovative behaviour
and among work engagement and innovative behaviour. Furthermore, impact of
Leader humor on Innovative Behaviour is mediated by Work engagement.
