Business and human activities are central to the debate on global environmental
challenges. The banking industry stands out as a major player in the labor force within
Sri Lankan industries and also its plays a crucial role in the country's economy.
However, the banking industry/s facing the challenge of formulating a strategically
sound approach that not only aligns with their business objectives but also
significantly enhances organizational environmental performance. The
implementation of human resource management digitalization can contribute
significantly to improving organizational environmental performance. Employee
digital technology adoption plays a vital role in shaping and nurturing the human
resource management digitalization. We developed and tested a research model that
investigated the mediating role of employee digital technology adoption on the
relationship between human resource management digitalization and organizational
environmental performance.
Data were collected using a questionnaire survey method. Questionnaires were issued
to 275 employees in selected banks in Batticaloa district. Among them, information
from 238 respondents was analyzed. In this study, the statistical tools used to analyze
the levels of variables, while relationships were measured by Pearson correlation,
linear regressions for further mediation analyses.
The result of the correlation analysis indicates that all the variables are positively
related to the organizational environmental performance and the result of regression
analysis shows that the factors in the research model explain 29.1% of the changes in
the organizational environmental performance of selected banks in Batticaloa district.
Research result shows that employee digital technology adoption (EDTA) mediates
the relationship between human resource management digitalization (HRMD) and
orgartizational environmental performance (OEP). Based on the research result
researcher has made EDTA played an interactive role with HRMD and OEP. This
research responds to multiple calls for research and advances the knowledge on
HRMD and OEP.
