The study investigates the levels of graduate employability(GE) and employer perspective of Graduate Employability(EPGE) within the banking sector in the Batticaloa district of Sri lanka. The research focuses on understanding relationship between educational outcomes and employer expectations by analyzing data, from 172 respondents across five major banks, including People's bank, commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, Hatton National Bank PLC, Sampath Bank Ltd., and Bank of Ceylon. Key factors influencing employability. such as basic skills, intrapersonal skills. intrapersonal skills, and specific knowledge,. Were identified as crucial components for enhancing workforce readiness and performance .
The findings reveal that both GE and EPGE levels are notably high among bank employees in the Batticaloa district, with a significant majority of respondents demonstrating strong employability attributes. The study confirms that there are strong positive relationships between GE and EPGE, as well as between each specific skill component (BS Intel PS, Intra PS. and SK) and EPGE. The acceptance of all the hypotheses (H1, H2, H3, H4, and H5) indicates that a well-rounded skill set is essential for meeting employer expectations and achieving career success in the banking industry. The study underscores the importance of aligning educational curricula with industry needs, emphasizing practical skills development. and fostering collaborations between educational institutions and financial organizations. of continuous professional development and targeted recruitment strategics in sustaining high employability levels.
