dc.description.abstract This study investigates the impact of soft skills and training and development on employee performance in the insurance sector. It aims to assess the current levels of soft skills, training and development, and employee performance among employees in selected insurance companies. Additionally, the study examines the relationship between soft skills and employee performance, as well as the relationship between training and development and employee performance. Furthermore, it evaluates the impact of soft skills and training and development on employee performance within the insurance companies. The research employed a quantitative approach, collecting data through a structured questionnaire from 384 employees across six selected insurance companies in Sri Lanka. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that the levels of soft skills, training and development, and employee performance were generally high among the employees in the selected insurance companies. A strong positive relationship was observed between soft skills and employee performance, as well as between training aid development and employee performance. The regression analysis indicated that soft skills and training and development significantly and positively influenced employee performance, explaining 79.8% of the variation in employee performance. The study contributes to the understanding of the importance of soft skills and training and development in enhancing employee performance within the insurance sector. It provides insights for managers and organizations to develop strategies that prioritize soft skills development and training initiatives, ultimately leading to improved employee performance and organizational success. en_US
